Terms of service

The arrangement, in plain words

What we do, what we do not do, and what happens when something goes wrong.

Last updated October 2026

Who you are dealing with

This service is operated by Practical Coaching Network, based in Michigan, United States. When these terms say “we” or “us”, that is who they mean. Using the site, booking coaching, or coaching through us means you accept these terms.

What coaching here is

Coaching is a working conversation about something you are trying to do. A coach asks questions, helps you name a goal, and helps you move towards it. Sessions run up to an hour and are sold in blocks of ten.

What it is not

Coaching is not counselling, therapy, medical care, legal advice or financial advice. Our coaches do not diagnose or treat anything, and they do not present themselves as counsellors or therapists even where they hold those credentials elsewhere.

If you are in crisis, or what you are carrying needs clinical help, coaching is the wrong tool and your coach will say so. We would rather lose a client than keep one who needs something we are not.

Who your coach is

Coaches are engaged by us as sub-contractors or employees. They are not your employees and not your agents, and you are not theirs. We train them, hold them to a standard, and decide who may take clients — but the coaching itself happens between the two of you.

Money

Prices are per session and shown before you book. Blocks are paid up front and are not refundable. A price you were quoted does not change underneath you: if your coach raises their rate, that applies to what you buy afterwards.

Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Cancelling

More than 24 hours before a session costs you nothing. Inside 24 hours, or a session missed without notice, uses one of your paid sessions. A session your coach moves never costs you anything.

What is said in a session

What you talk about with your coach belongs to that conversation. Your coach keeps notes; we can see that a session happened, how long it ran and whether it was held, and we do not read what was said. The exceptions are the ones you would expect: where somebody is at risk of serious harm, or where the law requires it.

Reviews

You may rate your coach after a session that happened. Ratings from free practice sessions are shown as practice ratings, separately from paid ones, so that anyone reading a coach’s profile can weigh them for what they are. We remove reviews that are abusive or that identify third parties.

Using the site properly

Do not use this service to harass anybody, to misrepresent who you are, to get around a decision we have made about your account, or for anything unlawful. We may suspend or close an account for any of those, and will say why.

What we are responsible for

We work to make coaching here good, and we select and train the people who deliver it. What we cannot do is guarantee an outcome: what you get out of coaching depends substantially on what you put into it. Decisions you make after a coaching conversation remain yours.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability for any claim relating to this service is limited to what you paid us for the coaching the claim concerns. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

If something goes wrong between us

  1. Talk to us first. Write to tom@practicalcoachingnetwork.com. Most things end here.
  2. If that does not settle it, Christian arbitration. We both agree to bring the dispute to a recognised Christian conciliation and arbitration service and to be bound by the outcome.
  3. The cost of arbitration is split equally between us, each side paying its own costs otherwise.

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Michigan. Where the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be signed away, you keep them — nothing here is meant to take those from you.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and material changes are told to anyone with an account. Carrying on using the service after a change means accepting it.
